I had a baby. Now what?

20 Feb

Take it outside!

Last night Kellen and I went on what will probably be our last pre-baby date. (Unless I’m still pregnant in a month at our anniversary. God forbid.) We went to see Beauty and the Beast at the Keller auditorium. We got all dolled up. We went out to a sit-down restaurant. We made the trek downtown. I was so excited, because Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie (geeky brunette lands large, hairy guy? no, this has no resemblance at all to my life!), and I love, love, love the music from the Broadway show. We’ve been looking forward to this for months, and I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed that Isla would stay in until this was over since this would be our last hoorah.

I figured there would be a lot of little kids at the show, and as such, I expected a certain degree of interruptions from kids. But, you know, the occasional excited exclamation from an over-eager 5-year-old or someone whining to go potty 15 minutes into the show isn’t a problem. When we got there, sure enough, there were kids everywhere–particularly a lot of little girls in princess dresses. It was really cute, and before the show, when a string of women with their combined 4 little girls trucked into the row right in front of us, Kellen was having cuteness meltdowns and kept whispering to me, “We’re going to have a little girl!” (Yes, he’s very excited to be a daddy to a little girl.) I didn’t really think about it. I figured, if anything, it would be super cute getting to sit behind a bunch of 3- to 5-year-old girls at a Disney musical.

About 10 minutes into the show, though, it happened.
